Scared

So we were very busy on Saturday. We pulled up all the carpet in the living room, and on the stairs that lead from the living room to the upstairs bedrooms. And the living room itself was MUCH easier than I'd thought it would be. The stairs were much harder though, since there were staples all through the small landing at the top of the stairs, some of which were literally on top of one another. [livejournal.com profile] alymid found them lumped together 6 deep in one spot. But with the help of [livejournal.com profile] whthorse, we got it done in a day. Hell, without whthorse, Alymid and I would have slacked off at the end of the day and left it until Sunday or later in the week, eventually finishing it, but leaving it undone until then. He got up after we all stopped for dinner and pulled a few more staples, then went against orders and pulled the last of the padding up, and got the rest of the staples beneath it out. Bastard! ;) And our thanks again.

Now to the part that's scaring me. Late Saturday night I got up an went to the downstairs bathroom, which is actually in the basement. When I got back upstairs, I lay in bed for a few minutes, listening to my heart beat. Or rather, listening to my heart go "lub-fwoosh". Needless to say, this made me VERY nervous.

Today, I called my doctor's office and made an appointment. I have an appointment at 10:15 tomorrow morning to see him and find out what the hell is going on.For now, I'm just going to try and remain calm. I dunno. I was at least partly asleep. Maybe it was a dream. But I'd rather not take chances on something like this.

Went to the doctor yesterday, and found that I'm apparently not in imminent danger of dying. Didn't find anything on the EKG, and suspects that the oddity with my heartbeat was probably due to waking from a deep sleep, running down and then up two flights of stairs, and then climbing back into bed. Apparently when you're asleep, your blood vessels open up much wider than when you're awake, and sudden excercise can have some odd effects. He did tell me that I need to get more excercise, though. Big shock there.

Also saw Sheakspeare's "Measure for Measure" last night at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater.

I could live without seeing it again. Not that it's a bad play, other than the rather vague character development. "Oh, he's this great upstanding gentleman. What's that, oh yeah, he dumped his betrothed when her brother drowned while sailing over with her dowery, leaving her with no husband, no brother, and no dowery for any other man. But really! He's a great guy..." And the ending was just... icky.
