I am SO F'ing lucky...
Sep. 10th, 2004 06:53 pmSo, when I was 12, I had a fairly traumatic dental experience. Painful, unpleasant, lasting 6+ months. I've been to the dentist once since all of that got taken care of, probably 6 years after, so when I was about 18.
I haven't been since. And to be honest, I haven't been very good about taking care of my teeth in any other way for most of the intervening time, either.
Alyse made an appointment for me for today. I went this morning, and was pretty nervous. Though I was mostly ok, until they started drilling on someone else in hearing range. The drill brought back very unhappy sound memories.
But when was was done, and a full set of x-rays had been taken, and the dentist had looked me over, it turns out that while I need a deep cleaning, and I have one small cavity, everything else is just fine! I had been expecting major oral surgery of some type or another, just because I hadn't been in years. And I know that waiting as long as I did wouldn't have made it any better, either. But I'm feeling VERY relieved!
