Whee!

So, last weekend was... interesting. For a series of reasons, Alyse's car was impounded on Friday night. Causing us to spend a lot of money that we hadn't budgeted to get it out of hock. And the frustrating part is that if we hadn't been stopped, the problems would have been taken care of probably with this most recent paycheck or the next. We actually would have been driving her car less at all, since on Saturday morning, we picked both of our bikes up from the local bike shop, where they had just been overhauled.

But the car is mostly taken care of, just need to clear up a few things. At the very least, it's out of impound, and both of us have been riding our bikes to the train station (as we had planned to do anyway). I'm really enjoying riding my bike again. It's been way too long, and the feeling of flying down the street is something that I've really missed. And I actually feel like I'm actively doing something to lose weight. In fact, I had a client tell me I looked like I'd lost 20 pounds today. I haven't weighed in at Weight Watchers for over a week (missed this week's meeting) but I suspect that I have lost a fair amount of weight. Probably not as much as 20 pounds, but the feeling is there. The fact that I rode nearly 10 miles on Tuesday, in the process of getting Alyse's car out of hock might have had something to do with that. And it's a nearly 2 mile ride to the train station in the morning, and the same distance back in the evening, so I'm riding between 3.5 and 4 miles a day now, on roads that are not flat. Apparently, Waukegan is built on a series of ridges, so while the inclines are not a lot for the most part they are there, and I am, in fact, riding up hill both ways to get to work. Of course, I'm riding downhill both ways too. But I'm not supposed to mention that, am I? 8)

Work has slowed down a little this week, but I suspect that it's going to start picking up a bit, since it looks like my day is well into being book again tomorrow. Today was mostly spent in the office, with a couple hours out, here and there. But I was getting invoices written, so that we can bill the customers for all the time that I spent at their sites last month. So that's important. 8)

And now, to bed. If I don't get to bed soon, I'm going to be wiped in the morning. Though with the riding, while I was expecting to be more tired by the time I get to work, it's actually kind of exhilerating, and I feel more awake during the day. It's all good. 8)
