What a way to start the day.... Ouch.
Nov. 15th, 2002 10:13 amWoke up this morning, grabbed the clothes that I had set aside to wear today, and started down the stairs to the office, to check my mail and surf a bit before taking my shower and getting ready to go.
About halfway down the stairs, my foot slipped on the carpeting, and I went straight down, on my ass, and slid about 3-4 steps down. I also bounced my left elbow off a couple of stairs. I managed to stop myself before I got too far, by slamming into the wall with my foot, like hitting the brakes while driving.
Woke Alyse up with the noise, and told her that I was fine, that I'd just slipped a couple of steps. Which was true, at the time. Continued to putter around the house, getting ready and heading out the door. But by the time I was ready to go, my back had started twinging a bit. By the time I got on the train, it was worse. I managed to go to sleep, as I normally do, but I woke up about halfway downtown, 'cause my back was hurting so much I couldn't stay asleep. Which worked out, since I immediately after that got a page from a client, saying that they couldn't log into their network. So the first thing that I do when I get downtown is run to a client site, which is when I find out that it hurts to breathe deeply. So I stop on my way and get advil, and take 4 of them, hoping that will help.
As of this writing, which is 3 hours after the advil, I have to say that it's not helping much. 8( but I'm still here.
